Church of San Giuliano in Pollina
The Church of San Giuliano stands in a very panoramic position and is dedicated to the patron saint of the village.
It was built in the 16th century in the Romanesque style, but the current Gothic appearance is due to the renovations carried out in the 19th century .
The building is characterized by its particular reddish color which is even more evident when it is hit by sunlight. The façade, divided into three parts, has in the central portion a door with a pointed arch surmounted by a rose window, and in the lateral ones two false windows also with a pointed arch. The sense of elevation upwards is given, in addition to the presence of the pointed arches, also by a series of hanging arches placed under the cornice.
Inside the church there is a statue of the patron saint San Giuliano, sculpture in polychrome wood, covered in plaster and pure gold, work by the sculptor Quattrocchi of Petralia Sottana.
