Rais Gerbi towers in Pollina
The Rais Gerbi Towers are two towers built for defensive purposes located on the promontory of the same name.
According to tradition, the towers and the promontory take their name from a Saracen pirate leader who often used to stop in these places.
It is believed that the towers were built in the second half of the sixteenth century with the aim of defending the ancient tuna fishery of Raisigerbi from the incursions of corsairs.
The two towers are located a short distance away and both have a square plan and the same structure made with local stone.
