Giuseppe Bonaviri, born in Mineo in 1924, was a leading figure in the field of Italian literature.
Winner of several important literary prizes, he has entered the shortlist of candidates for the Nobel Prize for literature several times, while continuing to work as a cardiologist.
He has written numerous novels in which he represents the small world of Mineo, placing much attention in grasping the magical and archaic dimension of nature, his best-known novel is The tailor of the long road, inspired by the figure of his father, who right in Mineo, inside a shop on via Ducezio , remembered as the long road, practiced the profession of tailor.
