Icaro and Mount Kronio
There is a version of the myth that it was not the sun that melted Icarus' wax wings but the vapors of Mount Kronio.
According to legend, Daedalus and his son Icarus were prisoners of Minos on Crete. To escape from the island, Daedalus made the wax wings that allowed him and his son to fly over the Mediterranean and reach Sicily.
When Icaro reached Sciacca, the vapors of Mount Kronio melted the wax wings. The young man thus fell into Mount Kronio, his body sank into the crater of the vaporous caves and it is said that his body still rests in the bowels of the mountain.
