The legend of the Castelbuono castle tells of a ghost that wanders among the rooms of the fortress.
According to the legend it is the ghost of Costanza Chiaramonte, first wife of Francesco I Ventimiglia. It is said that she was locked up in one of the rooms on the first floor of the castle without food and that the woman's body was found in a room devoid of furniture, because she had eaten them. The woman was guilty of giving no heir to the king. Legend has it that his ghost wanders among the rooms of the castle of Castelbuono, without crossing the walls, as they are too thick, but using the doors.
