Legend of the Castle of Comiso

The legend tells of a long siege of the castle of Comiso and how this ended thanks to the intervention of San Biagio.
According to a legend, the count and his people were besieged inside the castle by enemies for many days and the siege lasted for a long time, to the point that food supplies began to run out. One night, while the count was in despair, San Biagio appeared to him in a dream, who reassured him by telling him that the siege would end if he fasted and followed his advice: he had to flee through an underground channel and, in the open countryside, he would have met a shepherd from whom he would have had to buy ricotta, which, when he returned to the manor, he would have to throw on the besiegers. The count, being a devout man, followed the instructions of the saint, and so the miracle happened: the count threw the ricotta on the besiegers and this gesture drove the enemies away. These in fact were persuaded that they had no chance of taking possession of the castle waiting for the end of the food supplies and put an end to their siege.
