The giants of Petralia Soprana

In the sacristy of the Mother Church of Petralia Soprana are kept some bones called Bones of the Sacred Giant.
A widespread popular belief in Sicily is that the island was once inhabited by giants. Two bones of what, according to popular tradition, would have been a giant are preserved in Petralia Soprana. In reality, following studies conducted on the bones, it was possible to ascertain that the bones belong to cetaceans.
