The legend of Princess Bice tells of a sad love story that takes place in Castello San Marco di Calatabiano.
Legend has it that at the end of the 18th century the Duke of Gallodoro lived in the Castle of San Marco in Calatabiano with his wife and daughter Bice, a beautiful young woman. During a fox hunt in the San Marco vineyards, a nobleman from Castiglione di Sicilia, Lionello, chasing a fox running towards Bice, met the gaze of the young girl and fell in love with it. The girl immediately returned the love. In the following days, meetings between the two followed in the countryside near the castle. One sad day, however, Bice's horse suddenly started running and Bice fell beating his head and losing his life. Lionello took her to the castle, and after a month, from pain and forced fasting, he too died.
