The Jump of shepherd, near the Bridge of Saracens, where Simeto river digs deep gorges, is a place linked to a popular legend.
According to tradition, the name "Salto del Pecoraio" comes from the great leap that a shepherd used to stand out among the banks of the Simeto river, near Bridge of Saracens, in order to reach his sweetheart more quickly.
A more prosaic version instead sees the shepherd boy forced to escape from the law enforcement officers chasing him to arrest him. The shepherd, finding himself blocked by the river with the carabinieri behind him, then took a legendary jump to the other bank of the river which allowed him not to be reached by his pursuers.
