Zafferana Etnea, a town on the slopes of Etna, is the place where the film "A case of Conscience" was set.
The film, directed by Giovanni Grimaldi, is inspired by a short story by Leonardo Sciascia contained in the volume "The sea color of wine".
The film takes place in an imaginary village of Etna Maddà, Zafferana Etnea, where the young lawyer Vaccagnino, played by Lando Buzzanca and other local notables wonder who could be the woman who confessed, through the mailing column of a women's newspaper, to having betrayed her husband. Each of them is sure of his own wife, but someone will receive an unpleasant revelation.
The film recognizes different places in Zafferana Etnea: the Church where all the villagers go to attend mass is the Mother Church; via Roma, the main street, and Piazza Umberto I, which appears in several scenes, where in particular there is the outdoor bar where Turi Ferro awaits his friends who leave the church and the house where the lawyer's friends Vaccagnino check their inbox for their own investigation.
