Montalbano - DonnaFugata Castle
The Donnafugata Castle appears in several episodes of the series of "Il Commissario Montalbano".
The series, based on the novels of Andrea Camilleri, tells the story of Salvo Montalbano, police commissioner in the imaginary Sicilian town of Vigata. The Donnafugata Castle was chosen to be the home of the mafia boss of one of the two Vigata mafia families, Balduccio Sinagra. Montalbano goes to the Castle several times to meet the boss. Several scenes were shot both outside and inside the castle.
In the episode "The trip to Tindari", the labyrinth of the castle garden also appears, the place where the Griffos are found. In the episode "The sand track" Montalbano yields to the court of the beautiful Rachel in a stable in the garden.
The Castle of Donnafugata was also the location of the wedding of Luca Zingaretti, the actor and interpreter of Salvo Montalbano.
