The Mysterious Caves of Contrada Manostalla

The Caves of Contrada Manostalla are millenary caves shrouded in mystery.
Located almost on the border between the municipal territories of Balestrate and Alcamo, at the beginning of the small valley of the Cala-tubo stream, these are large caves once perhaps inhabited by prehistoric men and today shelters for flocks.
Inside them these caves have a series of tunnels, in some places so narrow as to force the visitor to crawl on the ground, which lead to mysterious underground lakes, beyond which there are large caves with stalactites.
Beyond this last area no one has ever gone, but according to popular imagination the tunnels lead to the sanctuary of the Madonna del Ponte, in the Partinico area, where legend says that the statue of the Madonna was miraculously found.
