The name Novara is linked to the main activity carried out by the first populations who inhabited these lands.
It is believed that the term Noa, from which Novara derives, is a word of Sican origin which means fallow, referring to the large production of wheat which characterized the Greek colonization in this territory. In the Arab-Norman period the term Noa became Nouah, finally this was transformed into the ordinary Novara.
