The origin of the name Sciara seems to be linked to the presence in ancient times of rich vegetation that covered the area.
The term Sciara can in fact be derived from the Arabic Xiara, which can be translated with the term boscaglia, and from the Greek term which indicates < em>forest.
It is in fact believed that thick vegetation, the abundance of water, the presence of various caves and shelters, and the strategic position, have led to the birth of human settlements since remote times.
