The name "Termini Imerese" narrates the ancient history of this town known since ancient times for its thermal waters.
It is said that in the ancient Thermae, famous for its thermal waters, in 408 BC, following the destruction of Carthage, the survivors of Himera, a Greek colony whose ruins were located near the city, landed and found refuge. Since then the city assumed the name of Thermae Himerensis, known today as Termini Imerese.
