The origin of the name - Valverde - is linked to the nature of this area rich in springs.
The original name of Valverde was in fact Vallis Viridis, where the Latin term vallis means valley, while viridis, it means green. Valverde in fact stood in a place rich in springs, where nature was lush. The term Vallis Viridis then became Bedduviddi in Sicilian dialect, where Beddu means beautiful while Viddi< /em> means green, and it returned to being Green Valley and therefore Valverde only during the eighteenth century.
