The Lord of the Bands in Pietraperzia
- CC1.0
The Lord of the swaddling clothes is a grandiose simulacrum, at the top of which is the Crucifix of Pietraperzia, so called due to the way it is carried in procession by the faithful.
Every year on Good Friday in Pietraperzia the procession of Lu Signuri di li Fasci takes place.
The imposing simulacrum consists of a beam of eight and a half meters high in cypress wood, on top of which there is a sphere of wood and colored glass, which represents the world with its many facets, surmounted by an ancient crucifix.
To make this simulacrum even more special are the about 200 bands of white linen, exactly 33 meters long like the years of Christ, which are knotted to the wooden beam on one side and held in the hands of the devotee on the other, in such a way as to ensure the balance of the high simulacrum.
Each of these bands belongs to a devotee and the initials of the owner and the year in which they were made are embroidered on them.
