Benreis - CC3.0
According to a popular legend, the volcanic island of Strombolicchio is the cap of the Stromboli volcano.
According to the legend, in fact, following a violent eruption, the cap of the volcano was thrown into the sea.
In this case the legend has no connection with reality, the Strombolicchio in fact and is a rare example of a volcanic neck which was formed following the solidification of the magma inside the volcanic conduit. The neck is now visible following the erosion of the volcano cone, less resistant to atmospheric agents.
