Ustica: the island of Circe
The island of Ustica is believed to be the home of the sorceress Circe, a woman capable of transforming unexpected visitors into pigs.
In a passage from the Odyssey, in fact, Ulysses arrives after visiting the town of the Lestrigoni, on an island. It is Eea, the house of the sorceress Circe, which has been identified with the island of Ustica.
