Places of "Johnny Stecchino" - Bagheria
Villa Spedalotto in Bagheria has been chosen as the setting for some scenes from the film "Johnny Stecchino".
Johnny Stecchino is a 1991 comedy written by Roberto Benigni and Vincenzo Cerami. The story tells of Dante, driver of a school bus for the disabled, played by Benigni, who meets Maria, played by Nicoletta Braschi, who is struck by Dante's resemblance to his Jonny Stecchino, again played by Benigni. Maria concocts the diabolical plan to make everyone believe that Dante is her Johnny so as to have him eliminated by his enemies. In the end the plan is foiled by Maria herself.
Many locations and scenes shot in Sicily, in particular in Palermo and Bagheria, Taormina, Giardini Naxos and Catania.
In Bagheria some scenes were shot at Villa Spedalotto which is the house where Johnny Stecchino hides.
