Church of Sant'Antonino in Agira
The church of Sant'Antonino Abate in Agira, no longer open to worship, is located in the highest district of the city.
It was built in the 14th century but following the various alterations, nothing remains of the original construction.
The nineteenth-century façade has a salient facade with a splayed pointed portal.
The interior, with a single nave, is surmounted by an ancient coffered ceiling with papier-mâché rosettes masking the trussed ceiling.
The church housed a painted cross attributed to the Master of the Cross of Piazza Armerina from the second half of the 15th century and numerous valuable paintings, works now preserved in the church of Sant'Antonio da Padova.
