Vallone Natural Reserve of Piano della Corte in Agira
The Vallone di Piano della Corte Nature Reserve in Agira is a small protected area of about 200 hectares located in the heart of Sicily, not far from Agira. The Vallone di Piano della Corte Nature Reserve hosts the suggestive river valley of the Dittaino river, which extends within it for about 7 km.
Within the reserve, numerous species of geobotanical interest are found: the black poplar of which it exists in reserve a specimen registered as a "monument tree" for its size and longevity, the white poplar, the elm, the Agrigento mallow. Naturalistic emergencies of considerable interest are also some presences of animals: the bee-eater that nests here, the Sicilian long-tailed tit and the painted discoglossus.
The Vallone di Piano della Corte Nature Reserve is open to visitors and groups who can go hiking and trekking .
