The Church of Maria SS. del Carmelo in Aidone is a small place of worship in the village.
It was built in the 15th century and originally dedicated to Saint Peter. In 1533 the Carmelite convent annexed to the church was founded. In 1545 the church took on its current name.
The building stands squeezed between the neighboring buildings and overlooks a small open space.
The simple rectangular façade is surmounted by a triangular tympanum placed above the cornice which forms a wind chime: in the center there are two arches containing the bells, one of which comes from the Madonna Visita Poveri church. In the center of the façade there is a portal in carved sandstone blocks surmounted by a rectangular opening with a brick frame.
The interior, with a single nave, is marked by pilasters in two bays which are separated from the presbytery by a triumphal arch. A recent discovery brought to light frescoes depicting episodes from the childhood of Jesus.
Among the works kept in the church we remember: a statue of the Madonna with Child; the canvases depicting Saint Peter the Apostle and Saint Michael the Archangel, coming from the church Madonna Visita Poveri.
