Church of San Giuseppe in Aidone

The Church of San Giuseppe a Vicari is a small place of worship located in the heart of the village.
It was built in the first half of the 17th century. It was partially destroyed by the earthquake of 1693. The current building was built in 1780. At the end of the 19th century, following a major restoration project, the church took on its current appearance.
The flat façade, flanked by civil buildings, is enriched by a valuable sandstone portal dating back to 1780, crowned by a frieze surmounted in the center by a folder with the inscription ITE AD JOSEPH which is believed to be contemporary with the construction of the portal itself. The portal also has a modern bronze door. In line with the portal is a rectangular window surrounded by a shaped sandstone frame. The bell tower, leaning against the left of the façade, with a square base, has a bell lodge with round arches on the four sides and culminates with a spire covered with enamelled ceramic scales.
The interior, with a single nave, is punctuated by pilasters in three bays and enriched by stucco frames that enhance the architectural partitions.
Among the works kept in the church, worthy of note are: an ancient crucifix dating back to 1700, the statue of Saint Joseph and a canvas depicting the Madonna.
