Barrafranca is a small village that stands on the south-west slope of the Erei mountains, in the heart of Sicily.
The city probably dates back to the ancient Hibla Heraia, later romanized with the name of Callonania. In Norman times it became a fief of the Barresi family who, in the 13th century, supported the construction of the first houses in the village.
Its center houses monuments rich in works and frescoes and has interesting museums.
