Diocesan Museum of Caltanissetta
The Sacred Art Museum of Caltanissetta, or Diocesan Museum of Caltanissetta, is dedicated to the memory of Monsignor Giovanni Speciale who was its creator and founder in 1983. It is housed in 10 rooms and 2 corridors on the ground floor of the seminary building. bishop of the city of Nissena.
The museum houses valuable works of sacred art such as paintings, fabrics, goldsmiths, sculptures and various sacred furnishings, coming from the territory of the diocese. In the north-east wing, the ancient wing, there are still six exhibition rooms with works of sacred art ranging from the 15th to the 18th century, while in the south-west wing, the modern wing, there are the library, the conference room, spaces for temporary installations and four new exhibition rooms have been created, where works of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries are kept.
