Archaeological Park of Sabucina in Caltanissetta
The archaeological park of Sabucina, located on the mountain of the same name near Caltanissetta, is an important archaeological site in Sicily.
The territory was followed by settlements from the Ancient Bronze Age, then the Hellenization phase of the site up to the Roman period.
The discovery of this archaeological site is relatively recent, in fact it was only in the sixties that the first excavation campaign was undertaken, led by Piero Orlandini, which led to the discovery of the Late Bronze Age hut village, dating back to the XIII-X century B.C.; this discovery was of extraordinary importance, as it was the first village of this type identified in Sicily.
In the area at the foot of the mountain, some cave tombs, dating back to the Bronze Age, have also been found.
