Church of Calvario in Licodia Eubea
The Church of the Calvary of Licodia, also known as the Church of the Madonna della Provvidenza is one of the oldest sacred buildings in Licodia. In 1693 it resisted the earthquake, later due to bad conditions, it was rebuilt by the chaplain Don Felice Accardo.
The church has an octagonal plan with apsidal body, has a modest and extremely simple structure inside. Without the bell tower, it has an eighteenth-century stone façade.
Inside, the church contains the following works: the plaster statue of the Madonna della Provvidenza; a painting on canvas depicting the "Deposition" of good workmanship but in a poor state of conservation; the artistic papier-mâché statue of "Cristo alla canna" from the Church of the Holy Spirit.
