Church of SS Rosario in Licodia Eubea
The Church of the Madonna del Rosario, or simply the Church of SS. Rosario, is annexed to the current municipal building which until 1860 was the seat of the monastery or convent of San Domenico, populated by the friars of the Dominican order.
The Dominican convent of Licodia Eubea was very important and flourishing. With the very strong earthquake of 1693, the church of the Rosary was partially destroyed and rebuilt on the same site in 1747, as reported by the Latin inscription on the external beam of the central door that gives access to the temple. With the suppression of 1860 the Dominicans were expelled from the premises, but they returned there in 1897, when they built a new convent, always annexed to the church of the Rosary but in the southern part.
The church of the SS Rosario, with a single nave, preserves a single painting dedicated to San Domenico, an 18th century pulpit, in gilded wood, the statue of the Madonna del Rosario and the artistic 17th century wooden statue depicting the SS . Savior.
