Monte Conca nature reserve
The Monte Conca Nature Reserve covers an area of approximately 245 hectares and includes the Inghiottitoio cave, the Risorgenza cave, and superficial karst phenomena of considerable scientific interest.
The entire area is crossed by the Gallo d'Oro river, tributary of the Platani river, and for this reason it presents numerous underground environments and wet areas with fresh water that make for rich vegetation and fauna.
In the reserve, chalky rocks emerge which present particularly interesting superficial karst phenomena: the karst grooves, i.e. furrows dug into the chalk, which give the rocks sinuous lines; sinkholes and blind valleys, i.e. large depressions in the surface.
