Villa Tamburini in Mineo
Villa Tamburini in Mineo, located in the Camuti district, was the summer holiday home of the Tamburino family.
It was built in the mid-nineteenth century to a design by the architect Belfiore. It stands on the plateau of the Camuti plateau which once belonged to the dialect poet Paolo Maura who, it is said, annually gathered poets from the whole island here to try their hand at verse around a stone, known as the stone of poetry. The land came to the Tamburino family for donations.
The building, in a good state of conservation, is spread over two floors: the upper floor is accessed with a staircase that begins with two flights and ends with a single large ramp which opens onto a long balcony that wraps around all four sides of the house.
