Church of SS Angeli Custodi in Piazza Armerina
The Church of SS Angeli Custodi in Piazza Armerina is one of the sacred buildings of the city built in clear Baroque style.
It was built in 1660 together with the Solidazio di Maria SS. degli Agonizzanti e dei Defunti and the Confraternity of S. Nicola dei peasants.
The interior, with a single nave, is richly decorated with paintings and frescoes.
The church is of great importance for the faithful as, on occasion of the Feast of Maria SS in Piazza Vecchia , the last Sunday of April welcomes the sacred image of Maria Ss.ma of Piazza Vecchia, where it remains until May 3, the day of the liturgical solemnity.
