Sican Pyramid in Pietraperzia
The Sican pyramid in Pietraperzia, also known as the Cerumbelle pyramid, is a twelve meter pyramid with a stepped structure probably built to worship solar deities. Access to the top of the pyramid was via four flights of orthogonal stairs oriented, within less than a 10 degree mismatch (justified by the phenomenon of precession of the earth's axis), according to the cardinal points. It is believed that this structure dates back to the Neolithic, that it is connected to the cult of solar deities, and that it was modified in the Middle Ages.
The absence of archaeological excavations has not allowed this hypothesis to be supported.
