Chalk Crystals Trail in Ramacca
The Path of Gypsum Crystals in Ramacca, known locally as a strada do issu, presents, along its route, varied crystalline formations formed millions of years ago.
The gypsum rocks present present in well-stratified formations with clay inserts, often with the formation of coarse crystals called selenite, i.e. Moonstone, which have a glassy sheen.
The path is located immersed in the hilly landscape of the Erei, and enjoys a splendid panorama that embraces the entire plain of Catania. The route is also characterized by the presence of various trees and wild plants.
Inside the route there are u Cummintazzo, i.e. the ruins of an ancient monastery, and a natural spring that flows from the rock.
