The Trabia Tallarita mine in Riesi was one of the most important sulfur mines in central Sicily, and has now become an important example of industrial archeology.
The mine was already active in 1830 and its first owner was the prince of Trabia and Butera. Over the years it has been the subject of important technological innovations, in particular the use of a cableway that reached the Ravanusa station.
Today, part of the existing structures have been turned into a museum, giving life to the Museum of sulphate of Trabia Tallarita .
