Antiquarium in Valguarnera
The Municipal Antiquarium of Valguarnera Caropepe is located in the former district prison.
The Valguarnera prison was built in 1881, before then the prisons were located in the small hovels inside the Castle. It remained in operation until 1990, when it was closed for renovation and never reopened.
The municipal library is now housed in the rooms that were once used by prison guards.
The municipal antiquarium, which collects the finds discovered in Contrada Marcato in the excavation campaigns of 1992 and 1998, is housed in the rooms that once housed the inmates.
