Church of Sant'Anna in Valguarnera
The Church of Sant'Anna in Valguarnera Caropepe is an ancient place of worship located in the heart of the historic center.
It was built starting from 1687 thanks to the donations of the faithful who chose it for their burial.
The building has two flights of stairs, opposite and parallel to the facade, built to reach the floor level of the church following the lowering of the street level.
The simple facade in living stone has a quadrangular compositional scheme. It is delimited by high pilasters in squared stone blocks and has, in the center, a portal in stone blocks. Above the portal there is a rectangular window. The facade is crowned by a sail-shaped cusp, in the center of which is placed a clock surmounted by a triangular tympanum. On the left side of the facade stands the bell tower, culminating in the loggia surmounted by a spire covered with green ceramic tiles from Caltagirone.
The interior, a single nave, ends with a quadrangular presbytery and has two side altars on the right and one on the left.
