Historical procession in Nicosia
The historical procession of Nicosia recalls the visit of Charles V to the city which took place on 22 August 1535.
The event Charles V visits Nicosia Civitas Costantissima, title assigned by the emperor to the city of Nicosia on the occasion of his visit, it is the oldest historical re-enactment in Sicily.
On the occasion of the event, a large historical procession takes place with figures in fine period clothing, through the main streets and squares of the city, the re-enactment of the delivery of the keys of the city to the emperor and the reading of the Privilege.< /p>

17:00 Start from via S. Simone and arrival at Largo Mortificati.
Charles V sits on the throne and receives homage from the gathered nobles.
The procession continues through the main streets of Nicosia.
19:30 Arrival in Piazza Garibaldi; greetings to the guest processions and ceremony of handing over the keys to the City.
Following performance of the drums of the "Sicularagonensia" of Randazzo and of the Flag-wavers and Musicians of the "Civitas Nicosiae".
To conclude, concert of Celtic and medieval music of the "Tir-Na-Nog" from Ragusa.
