Feast of San Bartolo in Alicudi
On the island of Alicudi, the feast of San Bartolomeo takes place on 24 August. On the occasion of the celebrations, the statue of the Saint in olive wood is laboriously carried on the shoulder in a long ride on the mule tracks, while the faithful recite a rosary with an interspersed of exclusive songs from the island. The party ends with fireworks over the sea and a public dance on the pier.
