Feast of the Madonna del Crispino in Monforte San Giorgio
The Madonna del Crispino Festival in Monforte San Giorgio takes place in September in the hamlet of Pellegrino where the Sanctuary of Santa Maria di Crispino stands.
The celebrations in honor of Sanata Maria del Cripisno begin with the traditional procession of the capidduzzi di Maria, or rather of the Sacred capello di Maria, a fragment of a hair of the Virgin Mary donated to Monforte San Giorgio in 1650 by Reverend Antonino Faranda. The suggestive procession takes place in the light of the candles of the faithful, of the candles and fires lit along the route
The solemn procession of the Simulacrum of the Virgin carried on the shoulders of the faithful through the streets of the town takes place on the day of the feast.
Numerous recreational events are organized during the celebrations: musical shows, gastronomic evenings, sports tournaments, treasure hunts, entertainment for children and much more.
