Festa della Madonna dell'Olio a Blufi
The Madonna dell'Olio of the Sanctuary of Blufi is celebrated every year on August 15, with a large outdoor party, and on the Tuesday after Pentecost, the day in which the faithful go to the Sanctuary to pay homage to the Madonna dell'olio.
The August feast is preceded by a solemn Fortnight, during which, every morning at dawn, many faithful, some of whom barefoot, gather to hear Mass with a homily.
14 August in the afternoon the pilgrimage takes place from the Christ the King Parish of Blufi to the Sanctuary of the Madonna dell'Olio where the Holy Mass is held. In the late afternoon the traditional representation "A Spartenza dell'urtima aria" takes place, taken from the text written by the master Peppino La Placa di Raffo in his book homage to the peasant popular culture of the Madonite community. In the "A spartenza di l'urtima aria" the ancient memories and traditions linked to the hard work in the fields and the division of the wheat harvest between the marquis, the feudal lord and the sharecropper are recalled. A tasting of typical local products follows. The day ends with the nocturnal vigil.
On August 15, on the occasion of the solemnity of the Assumption, various Eucharistic celebrations take place during the day and, in the afternoon, the procession of the wooden icon of the Madonna dell'Olio.
