Feast of Holy Mary del Lume in Santa Flavia

The Feast of the Holy Mary del Lume di Porticello in Santa Flavia celebrates the patron saint of this seaside village.
On the occasion of the celebrations in honor of the patron saint of Santa Flavia, a rich religious program takes place which culminates with the solemn procession of the statue of the Virgin carried on the shoulders by barefoot devotees. The procession stops at Piano Stenditore and Santa Nicolicchia, places where the re-enactment of the discovery of the painting depicting the Virgin which, according to tradition, was found in the nets of some fishermen takes place.
On the Sunday following the feast day, the evocative sea procession takes place towards Capo Zafferanao, the place where the painting of the Virgin was found.
During the feast days, a rich program also takes place of events with folkloristic, musical and entertainment shows
