Feast of Maria SS della Mercede in Palermo
The Feast of Maria SS. della Mercede di Palermo takes place on the last Sunday of September in Piazza Sant'Anna ai Lattarini. On the day of the festival, in the afternoon, the solemn procession of the artistic simulacrum of the Madonna takes place, a wooden sculpture of 1790, the work of Girolamo Bagnasco, carved on a single trunk of cypress 210 cm high.

09:00 Band tour through the streets of the historic centre.
10:30 Floral tribute to the Most Holy Mother by brothers, sisters and devotees, starting in procession from Piazza Borsa.
11:30 Solemn Holy Mass.
18:00 Solemn and secular procession of the artistic Simulacrum of Matia SS. of the Mercede.
Moment of prayer by Don Giuseppe Di Giovanni and the Parish Priest Fr. Bartolo Zappulla.
The song of the Ave Maria will follow, performed by the Palermo Lithic Soprano, Marilisa Buffa.
The procession will continue for streets of the historic centre.
The procession will be accompanied by the "Cav. Michele Cascino" musical band from Palermo directed by Maestro G. Bonadonna.
19:00 Arrival at the 4 Canti di Città where the mayor will recite the prayer of entrustment of the City of Palermo to the Madonna della Mercede.
22:00 Fireworks show.
23:30 Solemn Blessing at the conclusion of the Procession.
