Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Enna
In Enna, the celebrations in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus take place on the last Sunday of June. The festival is organized by the homonymous brotherhood founded in 1839 at the church of San Paolino of the Capuchin friars, and originally brought together miners and sulfur miners.
On the occasion of the celebrations, the solemn procession of the Simulacrum of the Sacred Heart of Jesus takes place, carried on the shoulders, through the city streets, by the confreres. On this occasion the confreres wear their traditional dress: a white coat, a white visor, an amaranth red cape of damask fabric bearing on the left the hand-painted effigy of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, an amaranth red comb, a red and white braided track, white gloves, braided wicker crown, pants, socks and black shoes; originally the shirts of the confreres had a tail.
During the festivities a rich calendar of recreational events is planned, such as exhibitions and tastings.
