Feast of San Bartolomeo in Salina
In Lingua, on the island of Salina, the celebrations in honor of San Bartolomeo take place on 27 August. The day of the official feast of the saint is actually August 24, but in Lingua it is celebrated a few days later to avoid overlapping the feast with the one celebrated in the cathedral of Lipari. San Bartolomeo is in fact also considered the patron saint of the entire Aeolian archipelago and is celebrated in the seven islands even several times a year on different dates.
On the occasion of the celebrations, a touching procession of the simulacrum of the saint takes place from the various brotherhoods. The party ends with spectacular fireworks over the sea.
