Feast of St. Joseph in Valguarnera

The Feast of Saint Joseph in Valguarnera, the patron saint of the village, takes place in the month of March, on the occasion of the liturgical anniversary.
The feast day is preceded by various moments of faith and deep devotion and moments of great folklore: the procession through the streets of the village of the image of the Holy Patriarch, the procession of the Holy Family and the traditional tables of Saint Joseph, that is, large tables, decorated with oranges and fennel, laden with bread and other typical traditional dishes.
The peculiarity of the Tables of Saint Joseph in Valguarnera Caropepe is the fact that these are made up of steps 3 or 4 meters wide and that each step represents a promise made to the Saint.
The most evocative moment of the feast is the offering of the m'braculi, that is, miracles, as a sign of gratitude: horses adorned for the occasion that carry gifts on their backs, accompanied by the faithful with large candles decorated with colored papier-mâché flowers, they move in procession towards the Church of San Giuseppe to leave their offering to the Holy Patriarch. The gifts are then distributed to the less well-off.
