Feast of San Michele Arcangelo in Canicattini Bagni
The feast of San Michele Arcangelo in Canicattini Bagni, the patron saint of the village, takes place in the month of May, when the apparition of the saint on Monte Sant'Angelo is commemorated, and on 29 September when the great patronal feast takes place .
On the occasion of the patronal feast in Canicattini Bagni the spectacular Sciuta takes place, i.e. the solemn exit of the Saint from the Mother Church, welcomed in the churchyard by a crowd of faithful and by the throwing of the traditional nzareddi, i.e. strips of colored paper. The sciuta is followed by a first procession of the statue of the Patron Saint carried bare-shouldered by the faithful. In the evening, a second sciuta takes place accompanied by the throwing of nzareddi and lanterns, followed by a second procession of the Simulacrum of Saint Michael the Archangel on a triumphal chariot.
I celebrations are accompanied by a rich recreational program.
