Feast of San Nicola in Gualtieri Sicaminò
The Feast of San Nicola in Gualtieri Sicaminò takes place on 6 December, on the occasion of the liturgical anniversary, and on the last Sunday of August, when the great external celebration takes place.
In the month of August the solemn procession of the simulacrum of the Saint takes place accompanied by the city brotherhoods in traditional clothes.
A great fireworks display is offered by the competition that takes place between the five districts of the village: San Nicola, Piano Molino, Misericordia, Carmine and Basso.
During the holidays a rich recreational program is organised.
In the month of December, on the occasion of celebrations in honor of Saint Nicholas, the traditional nocciolata takes place, a centuries-old tradition during which kilos and kilos of hazelnuts are thrown from the balconies of the houses overlooking the Piazza del Duomo.
