Feast of San Pietro in Balestrate
The Feast of San Pietro in Balestrate is celebrated on June 29, the day of the liturgical feast, and marks the beginning of the Balestrate summer.
The Feast of San Pietro is deeply felt and attended by the inhabitants of this seaside village being St. Peter protector of fishermen.
The culmination of the festivities is reached during the solemn procession of the simulacrum of St. Peter carried by the fishermen of the village, who wear blue trousers and a blue and white striped shirt, over a vara that has the appearance of a boat.
The celebrations are accompanied by tastings of fresh fish and typical local products, guided tours, musical performances and entertainment.
