Feast of San Pietro in Sciacca

On 29 June in Sciacca the feast of San Pietro, protector of fishermen, and the traditional Sagra del Mare take place. The festival, which takes place in the Marina district, lasts for a few days with religious moments, entertainment, exhibitions, shows, traditional games, like nTinna a Mari", and tastings of freshly caught fish.
Around mid-June at the "Marina" the tricolor flag is raised, symbolizing the beginning of the celebrations. Choreographic and musical moments alternate on the stage in Piazza Dogana, the ancient "Quartiere Games", exhibitions, theatrical readings and popular music.
Significant and moving is the procession of the Saint, in the sea in front of the port, with the statue of St. Peter on board a fishing boat accompanied by the fishing boats of the Saccense fleet. Upon returning Holy Mass, in the evening fish-based tasting, musical performances and fireworks.
